At 4:19 Fishing Academy, our mission is to teach the skills, techniques, and ethics of fishing while sharing the love of Christ. Inspired by Matthew 4:19, we strive to equip anglers of all ages with the knowledge and confidence to fish successfully-whether in freshwater, saltwater, or for life itself. Through expert instruction, hands-on experience, and a faith-driven approach, we aim to build a community of skilled fishermen who are also fishers of men.
Hi everyone, my name is Joey Pence. I am blessed to be the owner of 4:19 Fishing Academy with my wife, Yami Pence. I am a South Florida native and have fished since I was big enough to hold a fishing pole upright here in the fishing capital of the world. I grew up in a time with way less digital distractions than we have now, constantly outdoors fishing from small freshwater canals, to the intracoastal waterways to the beautiful beaches here in South Florida. In 2019 we were blessed with our first son and he accompanied me on many fishing trips as a small spectator until he was big enough to hold a fishing pole himself. While teaching him the skill set of fishing and spending time outdoors with him and my daughter, it really dawned on me how many lessons fishing and being in God’s great creation there are. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy every minute out fishing and catching the abundance of fish we have in our waters, but 4:19 Fishing Academy is so much more than another fishing camp. During our time learning about fishing and conservation, we strive to instill biblical principles and life lessons into every minute spent outdoors. Children and youth will be able to come together and learn and grow in the sport of fishing and at the same time gather valuable lessons and building blocks to be successful in this world alongside their parents.
